Margaret Meston

Obituary of Margaret Jean Meston

Margaret Meston, known to friends as “Jean” passed away on February 14, 2018 at the Lucky Lake Health Centre. Jean was born in Central Butte, SK on September 5, 1921.  She lived and worked in Saskatoon, and upon retirement she moved to her home in Demaine. She was predeceased by her parents Wilfred and Minie, sister Merle and brother Dudley.  When I look back, I will always know that we were the lucky ones. We had you in our lives and for that we are richer.  You brought joy and gladness to all of us.  Always serving (drinks and dainties) and being “hostess”. She was a great cook and loved her flowers and vegetable gardens. Now I wish I had stayed for more drinks and cake, picked the garden and didn’t grumble about the grass cutting.  Thankfully we could do no wrong in your eyes. Without you there is a void in our lives each of us has our own sadness we will be dealing with in our own ways.
Jean was our grandfather’s sister. He passed when we were young and we did not really know him. She had taken care of him when he passed, and when she talked about him she only ever mentioned the good in her only brother. Jean never married nor did she have any children. Auntie Jean was for all reality our grandmother. We spent loads of time with her on weekends, summer breaks or when we ended up with the chicken poxs!  She was such a huge part of our lives and now that she has died the realization brings tears to my eyes,
How fortunate I was to have had my Jean for so many years. She was a very good grandma/Auntie She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and selfless devotion to us (along with entertaining, stories, card games, superstitious lore (from her mom), love for travel, stubborn independence and great food). I shall cherish our memories! Memories I share with my little girls. As well, as with Palen, Meghan, Leanne and Don. So many great pictures and memories over many decades. You touched all of our lives immensely.
I'll never ever stop loving for you. I will always be missing you, Hope to see you soon in my dreams. And hopefully one day in heaven. But until then, you will always be in my heart. In my heart there will always be a special place for you. For all the wonderful memories you left with me, I will forever love you and never forget you. Bye bye Auntie Jean With love,
Your family Don & Leanne, Ashley & Dale, Meghan & Jared, Palen (and the little ones Piper, Tatum, Scout, and Davon).
