With loving and lonely hearts, the Helgason Family said their goodbyes with Floyd on Wednesday evening of November 13th, 2024.
Floyd was born on June 25th, 1944, to his parents, Hilda, and Dorie Helgason, of Swan River Manitoba.
Floyd met Leona in the spring of 1965 and in October of 1966 they were married. Shortly after they were married, they moved to Saskatoon and started a family. They had two boys, Derrick and Evan. Upon moving to Saskatoon, Floyd started working for a construction company. He worked there for a few years and then went on to work for PCS at the Potash Mine. After 12 years, he left the mine and went to work for his brother, Hugh. Hugh owned Helgason Roofing and Helgason Farms. Floyd stayed working with his brother until the end.
In 1976 Floyd joined AA and stayed sober.
Floyd was predeceased by his parents, Hilda and Dorie Helgason; his two brothers, Gerald and Don Helgason; and his niece, Lisa Helgason. Floyd is survived by his loving wife, Leona; and his son, Derrick (Nadine) and their children, Dorian, Kirsten and Peyton; and his son, Evan (Kerry), and their children, Jordan (Ashley), Taylor, and Jeremy; and his great-granddaughter, Lucy. Floyd is also survived by his brother, Hugh (Elaine) and their children, Mandy (Jeff) and Cam; and his sister, Alice (Wayne) and their children, Shane (Heather) and Jennifer (Doug).
A Memorial Reception will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Edwards Family Centre (333 4th Ave. N.) with Darin Felstrom as celebrant. Courtesy parking is available across the street at Saskatoon Funeral Home.
