Erika Leanne Mccallum

Erika left us at Samaritan Place on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at the age of 91. Grandma was predeceased by her first husband Bob Connell in 1964, second husband Ken J. McCallum in 1997, younger brother Peter Elster and step-daughter Pat Byers. Erika is survived by her four children Ken (Linda) Connell, Neil (Marjorie) Connell, Eric (Carol) Connell and Eileen Sue (Tim) Heisler. Step children Doug (Carol) McCallum and Jim Byers. Thirteen grandchildren; Cameron, Cheryl, Matt (Amanda), Adam (Nadia), Tara (Peter), Scott (Christie), Lee (Lisa), Robert (Lauren), Nicholas (Kayla), Katie (Jeremy), Jason (Sheila), Lindsey and Kent. Also many great grandchildren. She emigrated to Canada just prior to WWII getting her schooling and learning English at St. Ursuline Convent in Bruno, SK. To this day she is remembered for her heavy German accent. She began her teaching career at Strawberry Valley and then on to John Lake School, Howard Coad School and City Park Collegiate. Erika loved being a teacher. After retirement she became a sitter at Royal University Hospital. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Saskatoon CNIB or the Royal University Hospital Foundation.
