WILSON Ian James February 27, 1923 – April 15, 2016 WILSON Ian James, died on Friday, April 15, 2016 at the age of 93 years. Sorely missed by his beloved wife Bette, his daughter Gail (Dennis), his son Bryan (Beverly), five grandsons and seven great grandchildren, his sister Dulcie M. Clark of Levin NZ , along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews throughout NZ. Predeceased by his brother, Rev. Bryan C. Wilson, Auckland NZ. Born in Christchurch, New Zealand, Ian served as a Pilot/FLTLT in the RNZAF in WWII Immigrating to Canada with his wife Bette in 1947, they settled in Saskatoon. Ian graduated from the U of S in Arts and Education. He taught at Luther College, Regina, in 1952-53; 1954-56, he taught at Bedford Rd. Collegiate, then became a lecturer at the Saskatoon Teachers College, 1956-63. He then became the first Principal of the new Sask. Technical Institute, now Kelsey, where he remained until 1973, when he was appointed Deputy Minister of Education in Regina, where he and his family remained until 1979. He was appointed Chair and CEO of the Sask. Legal Aid Commission in Saskatoon, retiring in 1987. Active in Provincial and community affairs, Ian was a member and vice-chair of the Sask. Arts Board; charter member of Participaction Saskatoon; Chair, Educational Boundaries Commission; Chair, Kelsey Institute Foundation; Chair, SIAST Board of Directors; A lifelong jazz enthusiast, he was active in the early days of the Sask. Jazz Festival; member and Chair, Saskatoon Library Board.
