Jeffrey Gould

May 2, 1951 — August 26, 2024

It is with broken hearts that we announce that the world has lost one of the very best. Jeff Gould left us suddenly and far too soon on August 26, 2024 due to complications following a recent cancer diagnosis.

Jeff was a doting husband, amazing Dad, loving Grandpa, favourite Uncle and the light in every room he stepped into. He was described by so many as a "beauty", which he certainly was. He had an infectious personality, free and easy attitude and brilliant sense of humour that made everyone want to be around him. His life was filled with laughter and nothing gave Jeff more pleasure than sharing a good (and often off-colour) joke. He was fiercely proud of his family, often bragging about his girls and forcing friends to look at endless photos of his grandkids and their latest accomplishments.

After 35 years in sales, Jeff "retired" by starting a part time job, driving a courtesy vehicle at Glenwood Auto, which he enjoyed so much, he never quit. Jeff had a lifelong commitment to his community and contributed countless hours of his time to the Kinsmen Club of Saskatoon, K-40, Saskatchewan Jazz Festival, Saskatoon Hilltops, Prairie Football Conference and so many others. Never one to do anything half-assed, he gave each organization his all and committed years upon years to each cause.

Always being up for anything, Jeff's spare time was always filled with something. He loved to travel with Hope and had the opportunity to see much of Europe, but preferring warmer temperatures and frequent trips to Mexico. He had a passion for football - watching NFL games with his Monday night football crew, cheering on the Cardinals, picking his fantasy football players and supporting his Toppers. He loved golf (although golf did not always love him), car racing, and later took up curling, often enjoying the bonspiels more than the matches. Jeff became a part of his and Hope's Condo Corporation and was instrumental in developing a close-knit Condo community as well as the very important "5 o'clock Friday drinks in the courtyard", which has now become the "any day, any time drinks in the courtyard".

Jeff's life had a soundtrack. Music was as important to him as the air he breathed, and that love has been passed to Kara and Kelly and on to their children. In his younger years, Jeff played trombone and held the role of drum major in the Lion's Band. He added his musical stylings to several bands - most notably, the Kaleidescope and the Mello-Tones - often playing at restaurants and high school dances. Jeff always had music playing and was always excited to discover new songs from every genre and share them with his kids.

Jeff's memory will be honoured by his wife of over 50 years, Hope, daughters Kara (Ralph) Deters and Kelly (Jeret) Bode, grandchildren Hayden, Olivia, Nora and Iris, siblings, nieces, nephews and countless others who had the privilege to know him. Jeff had a profound impact on the lives of so many people and his absence will be felt with equally profound sadness. We will forever cherish the man that he was and will forever hold him in our hearts.

At Jeff's request, we will be holding a celebration of his life which will be planned for a date in October. We will have the opportunity to come together and share treasured memories and stories about all of the things we loved most about him.
