FORSDICK, John Edward July 11, 1925 – January 29, 2016 John Forsdick died on January 29, 2016 at the age of 90 years. John is lovingly remembered by his children Diane (Lawrence Martz), John (Stephanie Sorochka) and Jim; six grandchildren Robert (Adrienne Roy), Sarah (Brad Fettis), Rachel, Matthew, Geoffrey and Connor and four great grandchildren, Sophia, John, Farrah and Theo. John was predeceased by his wife Dorothy and his son Robert. John was born in Saskatoon, and moved to Toronto in 1937. He served in the Canadian Navy during World War II and returned to Saskatchewan to join the RCMP in 1946. He spent his RCMP career in Saskatchewan, meeting his wife Dorothy while stationed in Weyburn. With their growing family, they moved to Waskesiu, Carrot River, Moosomin, Melfort and Yorkton. John retired as a Staff Sergeant in 1973 and moved to Edmonton to work with the Alberta Securities Commission. John was very active and highly respected in the communities where he lived and worked. He was actively involved with youth in the Boy Scouts and Gun Club, volunteered with St. John’s Ambulance, and many other community organizations. He joined Moosomin Masonic Lodge in 1959 and was Secretary and Worshipful Master of Norwood Lodge in Edmonton and DDGM. of Dist#10 in Alberta, a 33rd degree member of the Scottish Rite, and a member of the Shriners. During his retirement years he was also active in the RCMP Veterans Association and Selections (an organization assisting adults with developmental disabilities). John had a great love of the outdoors, enjoying camping and hiking in his early family years, and travelling well into his 80’s to China and Europe. We wish to thank the staff of Brightwater Senior Living for their care and many kindnesses during John’s time there.
