Marvin (Marv) Hydomako, a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away peacefully on March 17th, 2025, at Oliver Lodge Nursing Home. Before his retirement he worked his way up from being a Typesetter to Systems Manager at the Saskatoon Star Phoenix where he continued to work for the next 47 years, during this time he made numerous friendships and connections with many people at the Star Phoenix and Regina Leader Post. His love for sports began as a young man when he played ball on the NRC team in the University of Saskatchewan Recreational League as a pitcher. He went on to join curling and bowling teams with his wife Terry. Marvin was a great ten pin bowler and represented Saskatchewan at a national level in Ottawa. He loved to golf and enjoyed both the exercise and the fellowship of various golfing foursomes. Marvin also enjoyed coaching his children, Jason in soccer and Tina in ball. Marvin has been described by many people as easy going and laid back...his quick wit entertained many. Unfortunately, dementia would rob Marvin of the attributes everyone loved about him. It gives all of us a great sense of relief and peace that Marvin is free and reunited with the love of his life Terry. Marvin loved to Christmas shop for anyone but mostly his children and grandchildren. Terry would have to keep Marvin on budget when going into a toy store. He welcomed many into their home to stay/live when needed and enjoyed a good party. Marvin was a favourite uncle, probably because he was a big kid himself when around his nieces and nephews. He was very good with babies and was considered a baby whisperer. All the nieces and nephews were handed off to Uncle Marv to settle in for a good sleep. Marvin was generous with lending out his car, his cash, and his time. He taught Terry how to drive a standard which is proof that he had some patience. Marvin met the love of his life when he was 9 years old...he did not know at the age of 9 that they would eventually start dating at the age of sixteen. Their teenage romance led to 56 years of marriage. Marv and Terry were the best of friends and showed everyone how to dance up a storm at many family weddings and various other functions. Watching Marv and Terry dance the Jive was a great source of entertainment. Marv loved being an uncle and grandfather; he went to every hockey and soccer game, graduation and event he could make. Our family would like to thank all the amazing nurses, doctors, and nursing aids that took care of him over the past year. Marv will be deeply missed by his; son, Jason and daughter Tina; grandchildren Dustin (Brianna) and Morgan; siblings, Marlene Beauchemin (Pat d. 2021), Debbie Dewis (Bob d.2024), Diane Hydomako (Gayle), and sisters-in-law, Karen Hydomako and Kathy Mason; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. He is reunited with his his wife Terry Hydomako, parents, Michael and Eva Hydomako, Stepmother Audrey Hydomako, brother Raymond Hydomako, nephew Scott Hydomako, stepbrother David Mason, and niece Stacy Mason.
