John Robert MacIntosh

It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of John Robert MacIntosh at Royal University Hospital with Lana by his side. John leaves to mourn his wife and partner of 35 years, Lana Stead; his brother Donald MacIntosh  (Marlene), nephews Jamie (Lorraine), David (Rebecca); his sister Margaret Bauer (Bill), niece Elizabeth, nephew Brian (Shantelle); mother-in-law Pat Stead; brother-in-law John Stead (Sophie), nephews Nicholas, Michael, niece Rose; brother-in-law Bob Stead, niece Jillian (Mackenzie), nephew Robert. He was predeceased by his father Ted MacIntosh, mother Mary MacIntosh, father-in-law Keith Stead and sister-in-law Dianne MacIntosh. John was born and raised in Saskatoon and attended Holliston School, Walter Murray Collegiate, the University of Saskatchewan and Simon Fraser University in British Columbia. He was a natural athlete and excelled at any sport he tried. John played baseball, football and hockey during his youth, but his true passion from an early age was golf. He was one of the first members to swing a club at Harbor Golf Course in Elbow, SK. He loved that course, his golf buddies and the game. John wore many hats during his working career - from film maker to Communications Manager with the Saskatchewan Research Council and many business opportunities in between. In 1985 he was a founding member of SMPIA (Saskatchewan Media Production Industry Association) and enjoyed his time working in the Saskatchewan film industry. In 2008 John and Lana retired to cottage life at Lake Diefenbaker and spent the winter months at their home in White Rock, BC. He was a man of few words; kind hearted and soft spoken. John appreciated a good bottle of scotch shared with friends, a great discussion on world events, his family and being at home in his favourite chair. He was loved. In keeping with John's wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial service. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to a charity of your choice.
