Cecil W. Kanigan, 78, of Saskatoon, SK, passed away surrounded by love and family on March 25, 2018 at Oliver Lodge.  Cecil was born in Wadena, SK to William and Mary (Makortoff) Kanigan on May 12, 1939.  He grew up on a farm and attended a one room school.  He then went to high school in Wadena and after two years of university, left school to foster his entrepreneurial nature.  He married his high school sweetheart Bernice (nee Peterson) in 1961.  Cecil is lovingly remembered by his wife and best friend Bernice, children Joan (Gordon), Arlene (Matthew), Myrna (Len), Nadine (Brent); his grandchildren, Claire, Liam, Jessica, Nathan, Sydney, Anna, Isaac; his step-grandchildren Spencer, Brandon, Brooke, Brittany, and Max.  Also his brother Bill (Doris), sister Natalie (Sam – deceased) and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and members of Bernice’s family.  He is predeceased by his parents.  A creative, inventive, and adventurous spirit, Cecil enjoyed music, loved camping, sailing, fishing, golfing, and painting.  He entertained many with his stories, sing-a-longs, and humour.  Cecil was especially close with his grandchildren.  He was dedicated to his family and considered them his greatest accomplishment.  He started numerous businesses including Carpet Warehouse and Dream Home Gallery, before joining Bill at Buy-Rite Furniture.  After retiring, he built and flew airplanes at Corman Air Park and then raised Alpacas near Colonsay.  More recently, Cecil and Bernice enjoyed spending winters in Sun City, AZ where he resumed his love of pottery.  The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at Oliver Lodge for his care during the past 9 months.
