Betty Worman

Obituary of Betty Mae Worman

Betty Mae Worman was born on May 18, 1954, arriving with her twin brother, Barry, much to the surprise of her parents, Tom and Frances Worman.  She was born in Tisdale and lived there until the age of six with her parents, Barry and older brother, Bert.  The family moved to Bjorkdale for about a year, then to Lloydminster for a year, and then to Melfort, where completed her high school education. After high school, Betty moved to Saskatoon and attended the University of Saskatchewan and received her Bachelor of Education.  Betty’s first teaching position was at McKague and then she taught at Wishart.  After a time, Betty decided to rethink her decision to become a teacher and she left teaching for a while. She took an office job at Russell Steel in Saskatoon. It didn’t take her too long to decide to return to teaching, a profession that she loved.  She taught for many years in Hague, before transferring to Warman, where she remained until she retired in December, 2008.  Betty was always active, enjoying biking, skating and cross-county skiing.  She loved watching curling and figure skating.   Betty passed away suddenly on May 4th, 2017, leaving her family and friends in shock.  She leaves to mourn her passing, her mother Frances, of Melfort; 2 brothers, Bert (Marilyn)Worman, of Melfort; her twin brother, Barry(Yvonne)Worman, of Buena Vista, as well as 4 nieces, 3 nephews, 8 great-nieces and nephews, numerous aunts and uncles.  She was predeceased by her father, Tom Worman.  A celebration of Betty’s life will be held at the Edward’s Family Centre, 338 Fourth Ave. North, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Saturday, May 26th at 11 am.  Any donations in her memory can be made to the Saskatoon SPCA or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
