Obituary of Ronald Allan Ford

FORD, RON
1941 - 2018

Ron Ford, age 77, passed away on September 1, 2018 after living with Myelofibrosis for the past 15 years.

Dad aka Papa Ron, was a second generation Canadian, born in Westlock, Alberta and as the son of an Elevator Agent, grew up in small communities, eventually settling in Paynton, Sk. Here, dad met his high school sweetheart, our mom, Bev.

After completing Teacher’s College, dad began a 30 year career teaching in a one room school in McLaren, Sk. and ended as the Principal at the Division 3 school in Rosetown.

After retirement, Mom and Dad spent summers at Turtle Lake and winters in California making life long friends along the way. During retirement, Dad began several new careers as a carpenter, lumberjack, handyman, wine maker, soup gourmet, gardener and greenhouse keeper.  Even better than
Red Green, he could fix anything and only rarely used duct tape.

Dad was a great and humble man who was highly regarded and well-liked by all who knew him. He had a great sense of humor and was an amazing public speaker. He is missed.

Ron is survived by his wife of 56 years, Beverley, sons Dwane (Peg) and Darren (Susan) and grandkids Dante, Paris, Finnian, Hennessey, Gwyneth, and Adelaide. He is also survived by brothers, Gerald (Barb) and Dale (Carol) and other family and friends too numerous to mention but close to his heart.

It is mom's wish that in lieu of flowers, she would appreciate donations to the Palliative Care Unit at St. Paul's Hospital in Saskatoon where, ironically, she did her RN training.

A celebration of Ron’s life will take place at 2 p.m. on October 6, 2018 at Saskatoon Funeral Home, 338 4th Ave North.
