MILLS, Carolyn

Carolyn Mills was born November 15, 1931 and died November 3, 2018, at age 86.  She was the youngest of three children born to the late Sadie and Winburne Haughn of Lunenburg, Nova Scotia.  Known as “Tookie”, she attended Lunenburg Academy, grades 1 through 12.  As a young adult, she worked in Halifax where she met navy officer Denis Mills.  They married in 1955 and moved to his hometown of Saskatoon. Carolyn arrived with a blond Elvis Presley ducktail, cropped stretch pants and stiletto heels.  She loved fashion, loved shopping, and was known for her beautiful clothing, beautiful homes and festive gatherings.  She enjoyed many years as a stay-at-home mom, raising her 3 children.  With the death of her husband she joined the family business, Motion Picture and Sound Equipment, and worked alongside many family members until her retirement.  She was a quiet women, strong willed and opinionated, a good listener and always supportive of her family.  She enjoyed time at the family cabin at Pike Lake in early years, and then later on, at Turtle Lake.  She played Bridge, Rummy and the piano.  She knit great socks and baked great creampuffs. She lived in Saskatoon for over 60 years while keeping a piece of her heart for Nova Scotia.
