Nirwair Singh

Obituary of Nirwair Singh

Nirwair Singh (1933 - 2018). With heavy hearts, we announce Nirwair's return to God on November 12, 2018. Born and raised in India, Nirwair also lived in Ethiopia briefly before settling in Saskatchewan in 1965. Nirwair taught high school math and science and became principal. He earned a Master's in Educational Psychology at the U of S in the early 1970s. In 1973 Nirwair founded an elementary school in Amritsar district, India. In 1977 he became a real estate agent and started his company as a broker in the late 1980s.

Nirwair was first and foremost a man of faith--a devout Sikh, and honest, loyal and respectful to a fault. As an educator, he led his sons to become highly educated in their own right, and as a realtor, he protected his clients from ruinous business deals even if it jeopardized his income.

Nirwair is survived by his sons Hari (Roopal Desai) and Jaswinder, and his grandkids Sean, Simran and Neesha. He was predeceased by his parents Partap and Amrit, and his older brother Amarjit.

Services will be held Saturday November 17 at 11 am at Saskatoon Funeral Home and 2 pm at the Sikh Gurdwara (Temple) at 331 Lowe Road.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or to Parkinson Canada
