Obituary of Margaret Brown

Margaret Brown

November 14th, 1934-November 15th, 2018

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother.  Margaret passed away peacefully at Stensrud Lodge in Saskatoon, surrounded by family and friends.  Left to mourn her are her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; numerous family members and many good friends.  Margaret was predeceased, 6 days prior to her death, by her loving husband of 63 years.

Margaret (nee Osatchoff) was born in the Langham District, and attended Henrietta School.  She grew up on a “mixed” farm, where she learned to work hard.  Her and her sisters attended sports days and ball games in the summer and hockey games in the winter with their father.

In 1955, Margaret married the love of her life, Allan Brown.  Together they continued as the next generation on the family farm that her grandparents had started.  Margaret farmed beside her husband for forty years.  She drove the grain truck, picked rocks, checked crops, kept detailed records and made all the meals.  Margaret enjoyed spending time outside in her garden, flower beds, and listening to the song birds.  After retirement in 2004, she enjoyed seeing pictures of the crops and “Sunday drives” along the countryside to see how things were progressing.

She loved working with her hands, and could often be found making something.  Canning, baking, quilting, sewing, needle point, and knitting just to name a few. Margaret showed her family how much she loved them by how well she fed them.  She was an amazing cook and baker-her cookies were second to none! Many wonderful meals and fellowship were shared around her table.  She always made people feel welcome and had time to visit with family and friends.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the staff at Stensrud Lodge, especially the nurses and care aids that helped to care for Margaret in the final months of her life.

A celebration of Margaret’s life will take place on Sunday, November 25th, 2018 at1:30pm, at Erindale Alliance Church, 310 Perehudoff Crescent, Saskatoon.  Lunch and fellowship will take place at the church, following the service.  Donations in memory of Margaret can be made to Ronald McDonald House, the Children’s Hospital Foundation, or a charity of your choosing.   Burial will take place in the Langham Cemetery.
