Obituary of Ruth Mary Coles

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Ruth Mary Coles on April 3, 2019 after a brief illness at the RUH in Saskatoon at the age of 72.

She was born to Peter and Annie Rempel on April 27, 1946 in Rosthern Sk.

Ruth was predeceased by son Terry, her parents, as well as her siblings Abe, Sarah, Henry, Walter, Helen and Willie. She is survived by her son Tyler (Rose), & her daughter Charlene (Mike). Her siblings Peter, Jack (Elisabeth), Annie (Dave), Tina (Terry), Mary (Arnie), and David, as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, and nieces, all of whom she loved so very much. Born in Rosthern, her family moved to the Big River area when she was still quite young, and as the family at that time was quite poor, she, along with her brothers and sisters, helped with the day to day running of the farm. She reminisced at how hard things could be sometimes, but was always quick to add how happy she was growing up in that tiny little farm house.

By the age of 14 she left home to help make ends meet, working for some of the local farmers in the area, eventually ending up on a farm in the Kinley, Sk. area. At the age of 20, she had settled into Saskatoon and began her family.

Ruth enjoyed the outdoors. She loved her gardening, and the peace and quiet of the country. Throughout her life she was known as a hard worker, and did what she had to, to provide a good life for her family. The loss of her son Terry as well as other experiences good and bad, shaped her into the person that so many came to know her as; strong, understanding, and above all compassionate. She was for so many, the glue that bound it all together. Along her journey, Ruth collected many lifelong friends, whether it be from her childhood, her neighbors, her co-workers, and even friends of friends, most of whom she kept in contact with right up until her untimely passing. She always found a way to find the time for people.  If family or friend was in need, they could always count on Ruth because to her, good friends were family. She truly meant so much to so many, and she will be greatly missed.

Thanks to everyone for the support and kind words in this difficult time
