Obituary of Bob Hamilton

Bob (Robert) Hamilton, 78, died peacefully at St Paul’s Hospital on May 25, 2019 one day short of his 79th birthday. His long battle with leukemia is over.

Bob was born in Borden hospital on May 26, 1940 and raised on the farm outside of Radisson, Saskatchewan.

Bob married the love of his life, Carol, on December 28, 1961 and together they raised their family in Saskatoon.

He is survived by his partner Angele Bjorgaard; children Heather (Geoff) Wheaton, Brad (Kym) Hamilton, Lisa Dyck; brother Warren Hamilton and sister June Krahn;  grandchildren Mike (Jacey) Bailey, Alyssa (Rick) Linehan, Adam Rempel, Mike Hamilton, Luke Rempel, Katie Rempel, Cade Lacoursiere, Sarah Dyck and Rebekah Dyck; great-grandchildren Liam, Adelynn and Braylen; and many nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by his wife Carol on May 31, 2006, parents Bill and Mary Hamilton and brother John Hamilton.

Bob is remembered as a true gentleman, a man of traditional values, a favourite uncle, a great brother, a storyteller, a man of integrity and patience and a loving and supportive husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He was involved with Scouts Canada from an early age and achieved the rank of Queen Scout and traveled to international jubilees.

Bob worked his way through the trades, was a carpet layer, worked in maintenance with Poly Twine in Saskatoon, was the maintenance manager at Sherbrooke Community Centre and worked with Cameco in many capacities for over 25 years.

He enjoyed working with wood, whether it be renovating the basements of the homes he lived in or carving and turning pens.  He was a man who was always using his hands. Bob was also an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating.

The family would like to thank the Saskatoon Cancer Clinic staff, with special thanks to Dr. Otto Moodley, Julia and Presley, for their special care of Bob  and to the nurses at St Paul’s Hospital during his final stay.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Saskatoon Cancer Clinic.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at Saskatoon Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
