Leo Dubé

Obituary of Leo Edward Dubé

It is with profound sorrow that his family announce the passing of Leo Edward Dube at the St. Paul’s Hospital on December 06, 2019.

Leo was predeceased by his parents Joseph (Joe) Dube in 1987, his mother Jennie (Popadynec) in 1991 and a sister Alice (Stolaryk) in 1992.  Leo has four brothers, Leslie, Arnold, William and Alvin. He will also be missed by his many Nieces and Nephews as well as many great nieces and nephews.

Leo was born in 1930 in Wynyard Saskatchewan.  He attended Rushville School which was 10 miles from Wynyard.

Leo enjoyed a varied and extensive work experience.  His work life began on the family farm.  He had a brief work experience working as a Brakeman for the CPR.  As the Railway moved from steam to diesel, many, including Leo were laid off.

He started working for the Wynyard OK Economy store.  After a brief experience at the company, he was called upon to relieve store Managers as well as managing several stores in various locations throughout Saskatchewan.  He then managed a Loblaws store in Regina.  He was then appointed as an Assistant General District Supervisor out of the Regina Loblaws office.  At that office he was in charge of all Merchandising for the Saskatchewan zone.

In 1987 he moved to the Saskatoon office and after a few years chose to retire.  As a retiree he busied himself as a handyman and was an avid gardener growing some of the best raspberries and carrots in the province.

He was a very active member of the Knights of Columbus throughout Saskatchewan for over 50 years.  He was a member of the St. Augustine Council since 1992 and served as Financial Secretary for many years along with other Council Offices.

The family extends their heart felt thanks to the staff at St. Paul’s Hospital for the dedicated care and attention provided to Leo and to all at Preston Park for the friendship extended to Leo.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church at 10:30 am on Wednesday, December 11, 2019. Interment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Leo can be made to the Kidney Foundation.
