Obituary of Rita Verma

RITA VERMA

1940  -  2020

 
It is with sadness the family announces that the death of Rita Verma occurred at Royal University Hospital on Thursday, March 5, 2020.

She is survived by her daughter Sandra, grandson Andy, granddaughter Anjalina of Florida, sister of Rita, Inge Jaeck of South Africa, and Brother Manfred Bekemeier of Germany and best friend Monika of Germany.

She was predeceased by her parents Marga and Walter Bekemeier, partner Harold Tatler.

 Rita was born in Waren Germany and educated and raised in Germany.

She was a foreign correspondent, swim  instructor, lifeguard,  language teacher, and Swiss Watch administrator as well as a University of Saskatchewan graduate as a Second Language Teacher. She also was a volunteer for SSFA Saskatoon swimming and also was a SSFA National Swimming Champion, a participant in the Field House First Step Program, Folkfest volunteer with the German Cultural Society and an avid animal lover and advocate.

 Some of Rita’s favorite activities included swimming and other athletic activities, international travel, ping pong champion, being methodical and organized and her love for Astra the German Shepard.

The loves of Rita’s life were reading, and ballroom dancing, Astra and Harold.

 Her neatness and reliability were a virtue
and she successfully met new and frequent challenges.

 She enjoyed a close relationship with her grandson.  

Speaking four languages she always looked forward to international travel with family and friends, adventure and physical fitness was also her passion.

 
Funeral Services will take place at Zion Lutheran Church (323 4th Ave. South Saskatoon)

on Monday, March 9th at 2:00 pm with interment to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
