Judith Shepherd

Obituary of Judith Patricia Shepherd

It is with great sadness, the family announces the passing of Judy Shepherd (nee Brown)  on April 3, 2020 at St. Paul’s Hospital. She is lovingly remembered as a dedicated wife, mother and friend by her best friend and husband of 55 years Art; daughter, Lauree Lavoie (Yvon); son, Curtis (Jane); son, Jeff (Michelle); grandchildren, Daniel, Monet, Tyler, Camden; siblings, Bob Brown (Rose); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Judy was born in Calgary, Alberta on November 9, 1943. Upon moving to Saskatoon, she attended Caswell elementary school and graduated from Bedford Road Collegiate. She worked as an office administrator in charge of Accounts Payable/Receivable for many organizations.

Judy was loved and admired for her compassion, caring nature and great sense of humour. She was drawn to people and could strike up a conversation with anyone, with some of her favorite places to do this being the aisles of Michaels, Dollarama or Walmart. We will always remember the love and adoration that she had for her grandchildren and how much she looked forward to her daily coffee conversations with Cori Owens (her neighbour and life-time friend).

Judy and Art spent 49 years together in City Park in a home they dearly loved, where they raised their three children and retired together.  Over the years, Judy was an active member of the parent volunteer group at Wilson School and other events in the community.  One of Judy’s other favourite pastimes was enjoying the view from her deck at the Resort Village of Big Shell Lake. Many good memories and times were had there with close family and friends.

Judy was very creative. She explored her artistic side through many crafts and hobbies including crotcheting, knitting, petite point, needlepoint, paper tole, weaving, ceramics, stained glass, and tin punching. Judy and Art loved visiting the library and reading their favourite authors together. She loved preparing for Christmas, creating hundreds of dishcloths and cowls and numerous tasty treats for family and friends.

The family wishes to thank the staff at St. Paul’s Hospital who showed care and compassion for Mom in her final days. As per Judy’s wishes, a small family gathering was held upon her passing. Her wishes were that everyone spends quality time with family and loved ones.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Judy’s name to the Saskatoon hospital foundation of your choice.
