Obituary of Edna Esther Kraft

Edna Esther Kraft

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of  Edna on April 30, 2020 in her 98th year. Predeceased by husband Sanford, parents Fred and Mary Worth, sister Vera (Mel),  brothers Cecil (Edna) and Arthur(Marie), she is survived by daughter Debbie (Dieter), grandchildren Erik (Caroline) and Kris (Kristal), great grandchildren Colin and Kate, as well as nieces and nephews  spanning 6 generations.

Mum was born on the farm in Copeland district. She completed her schooling at Foote-Copeland school. She subsequently worked in Regina, returning to Raymore to marry Sanford Kraft in 1944. The couple moved to Rose Valley in 1947, purchasing the Red & White Store. Upon selling  the business, Mum was employed by the Rose Valley Pharmacy. She took an active part in the community, playing softball with the Rose Valley Ramblers and was a founding member of the Rose Valley women's curling club. Mum retired from the pharmacy in 1983. She & Debbie then purchased Spunky's Nuttery in Victoria Square Mall in Regina, and together ran this business until 1986. Mum spent her retirement years in Rose Valley before moving to Saskatoon in 2006.

Family was very important to Mum.  She loved to entertain and looked forward to visits to and from family and friends. She cheered for the Blue Jays in summer, and avidly watched curling in the winter. She was also the ultimate shopper, and liked nothing better than to spend the day at the nearest shopping mall. She took up bridge in her later years, and enjoyed playing with her friends at Luther Tower.

Our family would like to thank Bev, Ross, and Merle for their unwavering support--always being there for mum whenever she needed them.  Interment to take place at Raymore cemetery.  A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
