Audrey Swidrovich

Obituary of Audrey Kathleen Swidrovich

It is with sadness the family of Audrey K. Swidrovich (nee: Lake) announces her passing on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 surrounded by her “care home” family at the Langham Care Home.  During these times of restrictions because of Covid-19, we are forever grateful to the wonderful staff at the Langham Care Home for being there for Audrey.
Audrey was born on August 22, 1937 in Asquith, SK.  She took her schooling at Grange School near Asquith, after which she worked on the family farm.  She met the love of her life, John, and they were married in 1955. They started their life together working the family farm for a few years and then moved to town. At that time Audrey worked at Picketts Garage and the Co-op in Asquith until they started their own construction business.  She then worked alongside John as a finishing carpenter.  They moved to Calgary for a few years where they ran their company Asquith Construction, but ended up back in Asquith as this was always their home.
Audrey was an amazing carpenter, definitely ahead of her time as not many women entered into the field of carpentry in those days.  She was an extremely hard worker and could easily master anything she tried.  She was also a loving, and kind Wife, Daughter, Sister, Aunt and Friend.  If you stopped by for a visit you never left without being served a meal (day or night).
Audrey leaves behind her sister, Shirley (Jock) Cleghorn (Ron, Denise, Dale & Delayney); Brother, Wayne (Carol) Lake (Treena and Adam); Sister-in-law, Betty Lake (Garnet, Sue, Kayla and Megan) (Gayle, Malcolm, Tyler and Troy); Sisters-in-law, Elsie Moe and Jean Stratychuk; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, John Swidrovich; Parents, Ned and Kate Lake; Brother, Roy Lake; and numerous sisters and brothers-in-law.
There will be a private graveside family service at the Asquith Cemetery on Saturday, May 30, 2020.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Langham Care Home (Box 287 / Langham, SK. / S0K 2L0) or a charity of your choice.
