“Bobbie” - Roberta Carole Mackintosh (nee MacEwan)
March 21, 1945 - June 24, 2020
Bobbie was born in Saskatoon on March 21, 1945 to Robert & Effie MacEwan. Growing up Bobbie and her sister were involved in highland dancing and the family travelled to competitions across the prairie provinces. They spent a lot of time at the family cabin at Anglin Lake, a place which Bobbie loved to go and relax into her final years. Bobbie had two boys which meant she spent a lot of time driving to hockey games and cheering for them from the bleachers. The boys remember her as a hard working, loving mom who supported them in all of their activities. Bobbie spent the majority of her work career at SaskTel, starting in Regina in the late 60s and then moving to Saskatoon in the early 70s. She worked there for over 28 years and retired in 1997. Bobbie met Tom in 1978 and after many years together they married in 1992. They enjoyed spending time at the lake, especially the annual weekend party with work friends. They moved from the city to the farm near Aberdeen in 1997 and together they enjoyed meeting friends for coffee and going for happy hour. Bobbie was crafty. She enjoyed knitting, quilting and creating plastic canvas decorations to sell at craft shows. She also made extravagant doll houses for her granddaughters. Bobbie liked to read and watch figure skating live and on television. She enjoyed travelling to Mexico with friends and made many trips to Hawaii over the years where she spent many hours walking paths and enjoying the sun. She loved watching her grandchildren at dance recitals, horse shows, and ringette tournaments. Bobbie was always printing photos and organizing them in albums and frames to remember special occasions, grandchildren’s achievements, building the cabin and other fun times with family and friends. At the age of 75, Bobbie passed away on June 24, 2020 at St. Paul’s Hospital with family at her side. She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Tom; her two sons, Richard (Carrie) McComber and Graham (Sarah) McComber; two stepdaughters, Tammy (Dave) Rettger and Tonia (Trevor) Meier; her sister, Nancy Price; her grandchildren, Reese and Madison McComber, Sophia and Emily McComber, Makayla and AJ Rettger, Maeve and Regan Meier; and many nieces, nephews and friends. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan 301 - 2550 12th Avenue Regina, SK S4P 3X1.
