Chabot, Claude Gilles

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, Claude Gilles Chabot, who passed away at the age of 86 on October 25, 2020 at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon SK.

Claude was predeceased by his wife Rose Marie, his parents Noé and Blanche (Audet) Chabot, sister Laurette, brother Robert and brother in laws, Raymond Fournier and Robert Reid. He is survived by his four children, Noé, Claudette (Glenn), Léanne (Mack) and Gerry; grandchildren Vincent (Trystan), Rachel (Riley) and Nathan (Lianne), Sasha; great grandchildren, William, Samuel, Charles, Joseph, Stella, Cohen and Jensen, as well as his brothers Léandre, Roger (Patti) and sisters Rachel, Paulette, Michelle (Dave) and Claire (Dale) and many nieces and nephews.

Dad was born in 1934 in Kincaid SK, and was raised along with his brothers and sisters in the town of Ferland SK. In 1960 he married our mom Rose Marie (Schafer). In dad’s earlier years he was in partnership in an implement dealership, and then became a farmer and farmed land south of Ferland till mom and dad retired to Swift Current SK, residing for a few years before moving to Saskatoon in 1992. Dad’s life was farming and he was also a good mechanic. He loved to tinker in his farm shop, and helped many neighbors and friends to fix their machinery. Sharing a meal or a cup of coffee over a visit was one of the best gifts you could give Dad. We will miss his sense of humour, that special twinkle in his eye, his teasing nature, his special way of spinning true life stories to entertain, his warm personality and his delight in his family and life itself.

Dad was also a kidney transplant recipient who received a kidney donated by his sister Michelle Reid. Special thanks to Michelle for this Gift of Life, whose selfless and generous act gave our dad an additional 28 years of life with his family. Special thanks also to the Kidney Foundation who supported dad throughout the last 28 years.

Due to COVID-19 assembly conditions, a small private gathering to celebrate dad’s life will be held at the Saskatoon Funeral Home on November 3, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. This celebration will be live streamed, recorded, and viewed by going to the link on Claude Chabot’s obituary at www.saskatoonfuneralhome.com. Condolences may also be left for the family at this site.
