Norma Linwood

Obituary of Norma Anne Linwood

It is with heavy hearts that our family announces the passing of our mother and grandmother, Norma Anne Linwood, who passed away peacefully at the age of 93 on Tuesday, November 10th, 2020 in Saskatoon, SK.  She will be lovingly remembered by her son Bill (Darnell), and daughter Barb; her grandchildren, Oliver and Jade; and her many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Norma was born to Bill and Doris Kinne on September 16th, 1927 in Sylvania, Saskatchewan.  She lived with her parents and sister Kathleen on a farm in Golburn SK, and eventually moved to Tisdale.  After a short time in Tisdale, Norma moved permanently to Saskatoon, where she worked at Federated Co-op before meeting and getting married to Alan John Linwood, who passed away in 1986.

Once starting their family, Norma began her career as a homemaker.  She took this very seriously and was always helping with homework and extracurricular activities.  Along with her husband Al, they also made sure to make time for themselves by taking part in their favourite activities such as square dancing and curling.  Once the kids left the nest and her husband passed, Norma was still very active making sure to get in a lengthy walk every day no matter the weather, enjoyed spending many hours gardening, played in a Bridge club, and was a permanent fixture at the lawn bowling club.

Always caring deeply for her family, and putting them before herself, she always made sure to travel back to Tisdale after her dad passed away to visit with her mom regularly, and to help her with anything she needed.  Everyone who came into contact with Norma throughout her long life knows what a very caring, compassionate, unassuming lady she was.  You would never hear a harsh word from her about anyone or anything.  We are going to miss her dearly.

We would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Luther Care Home, where she was lovingly cared for.  Private ceremony will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery.
