Phyllis Cavell Thrasher (nee Armstrong)

Phyllis Thrasher passed away at Warm N' Cozy in Saskatoon  on Thursday, December  3, 2020 at the age of 102 years.  Phyllis  was born to George  and Etta Armstrong on May 20, 1918 in Moose Jaw and grew up in Elbow and Davidson, Saskatchewan, the second of eleven children.
After graduating from high school, Phyllis trained as a nurse at the Moose  Jaw Union Hospital, graduating in 1940.  She moved to Rosetown in 1940 and worked at the Rosetown Union Hospital until 1947, when she married Clare Thrasher.  They had four children: Judy, Donna, Wayne and Ross.
Phyllis and Clare lived on a farm south-west of Rosetown until they retired to Rosetown in 1980. They resided in Rosetown until Clare passed away in 2007.  Phyllis spent her remaining years in Saskatoon.
Phyllis  was active in her community all her life, as a member of the United Church Women and the Hospital Auxiliary.  She also returned to nursing in 1967, retiring in 1982.  She was a kind and generous  person and a good friend to everyone she knew.  
Phyllis and Clare enjoyed travel, visiting Europe, Cuba, Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii and many other places.
Phyllis loved playing cards, scrabble and tile rummy and many other games with her friends, her children and grand children 
Family was very important to Phyllis.  This included her children , grand children and great-grandchildren as well as her sisters and brothers  and all their families.  She loved both the Armstrong and Thrasher family gatherings.
Phyllis is survived by her sister Grace, four children, 6 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.  She is predeceased by her husband Clare, infant son Billy, her mother and father, 6 sisters and three brothers.
