Obituary of Auston James Hoey

It is with indescribable sadness and much love that the family of Auston James Hoey announce his sudden passing on January 21, 2021 at the age of 28 while in hospital in Saskatoon. 

He will be lovingly remembered by: his parents, Leonard and Cynthia Hoey (nee Dunbabin); sister, Chelsea Hoey; brother, Matthew Hoey; grandparents, Bryan and Dorothy Dunbabin (nee Deforge), Jim Hoey, Judy Crigger (nee Ostman), Shirley Palubeskie; his girlfriend, Jae Alba and his many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. 

He was predeceased by his father Terence (Terry) Smith of Pickle Lake, Ontario.  Auston was born in Kenora, Ontario and lived in Pickle Lake, Ontario before moving to Thunder Bay, Ontario in 1995. 

He moved with his family to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 2006, attending Dakota High School and University of Manitoba.  He relocated to Saskatoon for a work promotion in 2018.  Auston was a wonderful son, brother and friend providing many memorable moments for his family and friends to cherish forever.  He was a gifted student and athlete who enjoyed playing hockey and skateboarding.

He was known for his charm, charisma and wonderfully dimpled smile.  He worked as a salesperson, and had experience selling cellular phones, vehicles and most recently commercial painting products.  He was a natural at sales and prided himself on providing a high level of service to his customers.  He was a tremendous source of pride for his family. 

A celebration of Auston’s life will be held at a later date. 

The family wishes to send a special thank you to all those who showed care and compassion for Auston throughout the challenging times in his life. 

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to support your local crisis counselling centre.
