It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Ethel Larson on March 22, 2021 at Luther Care Home with her family at her side. At the young age of 92, Mom is now with Dad and her loved ones that have predeceased her.  Mom will be laid to rest in Fosston, SK next to her beloved husband, Glen.

Ethel May Tait was born Jan. 31, 1929 in Wadena, SK to Alex and Reta Tait. She was the oldest of four siblings, a much-loved sister to Earl, Doreen and Bob. Ethel completed her schooling in Wadena and in her late teens met a dashing young Fosston gentleman named Glen Larson who swept her off her feet.  They were married June 18, 1947 and farmed in the Fosston area until 1969. During this time, Ethel and Glen were blessed with four children: Byron, Barry Craig and Connie.

In 1969, Ethel and Glen moved to Saskatoon to provide better opportunities for their family. Mom worked at a variety jobs in the early years, including taking in boarders and then getting a wonderful opportunity at Reid’s Hardware in Sutherland where she worked as a cashier from 1972 to 1977. In 1979 she started her career with Superstore where she worked as a cashier, initially in the Confederation store and then the 8th St store in Saskatoon until she retired in 1994. During this time, she met and made many lifelong friends. More than one customer was happy to wait in line to allow them to go thru Mom’s till where they would enjoy a short greeting and a pleasant smile for the day. Mom’s family always came first in her life and her greatest joy was when someone dropped in for coffee and a short visit where she could share her home and garden. Summer time was also spent at the cabin at Candle lake, initially at Minowukaw beach and then near Sandy Bay where many happy memories were made over the years. Mom loved all animals, but, had a special place in her heart for her dogs. They provided unconditional love for her and many hours of joy and laughter for all the family.
