Dorothy Reimer

Obituary of Dorothy Doreen Reimer

It is with great sadness that the family of Dorothy (Dot) Reimer (nee Penfield) of Neville, Saskatchewan and more recently Saskatoon, announce her passing on April 20th, 2021 at the age of 85. She was predeceased by her husband John in 2000. Dot was born in Regina and when she was six weeks old joined her new family, the Penfield’s, on their farm near Neville. Farm life was a wonderful experience for her and turned out to be the place she belonged and felt most comfortable. Growing up and working on the farm would prepare her for a life as a farmer and is where she would eventually meet her future husband John, who was working for her father as a hired hand. Over her lifetime as a farmer, she developed a deep connection with the land and absolutely loved Saskatchewan and its people. Sports were her passion throughout her life. Whether she was playing hockey, coaching, umpiring a game, or watching the action live or on TV, it brought her endless joy. Former Mayor Dot had a strong sense of community and was always involved at many levels. She was a positive influence in the lives of so many, particularly kids, and spent countless volunteer hours helping to create opportunities for them to participate and have fun.  She enjoyed cooking for and spending time with friends and family and loved to go for coffee and “swap lies” with the folks at the Neville Drop-In Center. Grandma Dot will be remembered for her beautiful spirit, big heart and love for her family and friends. Dot was much loved, and her memory will be forever cherished by her children, Linda (Russell) and Garry (Bill); grandchildren, Kris (Collin) and Jeremy; and great grandchildren, Liam, Chloe, and Emmett. In keeping with Dot’s request there will be a family graveside service. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to the charity of their choice.
