It is with sadness we announce that the death of Sophie Arnold occurred on Sunday, May 16, 2021 in Saskatoon at 91 years of age. Sophie was predeceased by her husband Donald in 2013 as well as her parents Harry and Katrina Fidyk, brothers Andy and Martin, and sister Christina. She  survived by numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives from both sides of  the Fidyk and Arnold  family. Sophie was born in Saskatoon on May 5, 1930 and took her early education at Wilson Elementary and  participated in Operas and musicals there over the years. She worked at Adelman’s Department Store, Intercontinental Packers, taught dance and later ran the concession stand at Archibald Arena. Sophie and Donald were married in 1959 and spent 54 loving years together prior to Donald’s death 7 ½ years ago. They enjoyed long road trips and  traveled on holidays  a number of times to the west coast. She loved people, animals, music and  always stayed busy singing, dancing and playing the organ. Around the house she enjoyed her garden and the time she spent cooking and baking for Donald and their family and friends. She was a loyal member of the Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans Club (ANAVETS)  where she had many friends and spent enjoyable times playing  in shuffleboard and cribbage tournaments and participating in all the regular social activities. Donald and Sophie’s special family pet was their dog Benji who became one of the most important parts of Sophie’s life in the last number of years.
