March 22, 1925 – August 12, 2021

Richardson-Lorne E., Passed away peacefully with his three sons and family at his side on August 12, 2021. His loving wife Phyllis of 67 Years passed away before Lorne on March 17th, 2016.

Born and raised in Saskatoon, Lorne attended King George School and Bedford Road Collegiate. He spent a year at the U of S before joining R.C.N.V.R. Returning from service he spent 35 years with Midwest Ltd, in sales management and joint ownership.  He was active in the printing Industry and honored as a life member S.G.A.A.  Lorne was a community person; elected Senior Watch at BRCI in 1942, served as the President of Saskatoon Kinsmen Club and Director of National Kin; Life Member of the Saskatoon Hilltops and a founding member Man-Sask Jr. Football League. A Rotarian, an active member of Knox United Church for more than 65 years; a volunteer worker with the Salvation Army and the Diabetes Association.  Lorne was a Goal Tender playing with the Wesleys, the Jr. Quakers, the U of S Huskies and the Army + Navy Vets. Lorne was the Captain of the Canadian National Hockey Team and was drafted to tryout to the Detroit Red Wings with Gordie Howe.

Lorne is survived by his three sons, Douglas (Jocelyn) of Saskatoon and family Brennan, Galen and Ciara; his son Blair (Kristin) of Denver and his family, Devon, Zachary, Mackenzie and Kendall; his son Kent (Mary Kae) of Calgary and family, Paige (Justin), Rosalyn and John Lorne.  Also surviving is his sister May Blunden of Kimberly BC.

Lorne was the youngest of a large family of nine Richardsons who were very active in Saskatoon community and sports life.  Lorne was a diabetic on insulin for more than 74 years. He never asked why me, instead he always gave thanks to God for the love and support of his wife and family in trying to live a normal life.

Also surviving is his Sister-In-Law Betty (Cliff) Wright and Margret (Len) Richardson of Saskatoon.  Phyllis and Lorne were blessed with kind and caring nieces and nephews; Aldean in Winnipeg, David in Calgary and Dennis in Comox B.C., Les and Gerald Longmire in Kindersley SK, and Wayne (Sandra) in Saskatoon and Murray in PA. SK

Next July, in 2022 the family will be hosting a “Celebration of life” which everyone will be encouraged to attend and will be held at Knox United Church.  In lieu of Flowers please make donations to Knox United Church and or the Diabetic Association of Saskatoon.
