Obituary of Joyce Ivy McKay

Joyce Ivy McKay

 January 18, 1930  -  December 5, 2021

It is with profound sadness that we the children of Joyce McKay announce her passing on  Sunday Dec.05,2021. She leaves to remember her 5 children;  Linda (Art),  Ted,  Randy (Alexis),  Rick (Shannan), Tracy (Dean). Along with 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson. 2 brothers, Jack and Jim Zulkoskey, a sister Judy Relitz, numerous inlaws and cousins, nieces and nephews

Mom was predeceased by her husband, our Dad Jim. In 2011.  These last couple years were hard on Mom and most seniors,  it has been awhile since she was able to go to her and Dads favourite place to relax” Turtle Lake”. With Covid she couldn’t risk it.  Mom spent her last couple years at St, Joseph’s Home under the tender care of the staff and Sisters. They keep a fabulous flower garden and sitting out made her happy.  If she couldn’t tend to her own flowers anymore she could enjoy theirs. Christmas was always a special time in our house, small traditions are still being followed by each one of us and not surprising Mom chose now to go to Dad. Mom and Dad did a lot of skimping to give each one of us that special something we were wishing for. Their time was  Years Eve when  Mom looking beautiful in her gown and Dad handsome in his best suit would go out to usher in a new year. One hopefully better than the last.   Mom and Dad were outdoor people. Enjoying years of camping, fishing, sledding, spending time at the lake. They had just been touched by the travel bug and were able to see Scotland, Ireland, Alaska before their age got the best of them  Mom loved spring and we shall have a Graveside Service for her next spring keeping with her wishes.

A Graveside Service will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. followed by a Memorial Reception at W.A. Edwards Family Centre at 2:00 p.m. with parking available across the street at Saskatoon Funeral Home.
