Obituary of Lucia Maria Vangool

Lucia Maria Vangool (nee De Caigny) Lucia passed away peacefully on Monday, November 30, 2015. Omi, as she was affectionately known by her family was born in Kalmthout, Belgium on August 28, 1915. In September 1940 she married Jules Vangool and they made their home in Belgium until 1964, when the family immigrated to Canada with their eleven children. Omi's place was always a hub of activity, she was always interested in what everyone was doing, so if you couldn't connect with any of your siblings, you would phone Omi and she could usually fill you in. Omi was known for her knitting, a pastime she enjoyed until just three days before her passing. Lucia is survived by eleven children, twenty seven grand children and thirty two great grandchildren as well as a brother Louis in Belgium. She was pre-deceased by her husband Jules, sons-in-law Walter Van Aelst, Louis Spronken and Konrad Haderlein, a great grandson Andrew Pashovitz and in Belgium a brother and sister.
