Sakara Rico

1954 - 2021

We are sad to announce the sudden passing on October 24, 2021 of our beloved sister, mother and friend. Sakara was born Beverly Boylan on Dec 18, 1954 in Toronto. Over the years we lived in Toronto and Saskatoon then northern Manitoba. Sakara always spoke fondly of her time in the north, describing it as a very happy time. Sakara left home and moved to Victoria where she lived for her last 50 years.  She found her voice in Art, following this passion her entire life. At peace with a paint brush and her much loved dogs, she enjoyed solitude and going for long hikes with her four legged family. Sakara and her furry friends were also heavily involved in the agility trials where they excelled, Sakara lived her life as a free spirit becoming her true self as she aged. Her constant companion Seeger the Border Collie was with her when she passed, as she would have wanted. Sakara leaves to grieve, her son Donovan Aikman (Amy), brother Robert Boylan (Debra), sisters Sheila Tehse (Earl), Kathy Daum and Jean Boylan, as well as her nieces, nephews and close friends. Sakara was predeceased by her daughter Tabatha Aikman and her parents Mildred Daum (2008) and Henry Daum (1997). A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 16 at 02:00 PM at  Saskatoon Funeral Home. The Service will be livestreamed and the link to watch can be accessed at www.saskatoonfuneralhome.com where condolences may also be left for the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Saskatoon Funeral Home.
