Obituary of Bette-Ellen Gonick

It is with sadness the family announces that the death of Bette-Ellen Gonick occurred at St. Paul's Hospital on Wednesday, April 27, 2022. She is survived by her three children; two sons Jeff and David, her daughter Aleyna (Davey) Mah and grandson Brayden who was her pride and joy. She is also survived by her sister Judy (Mitch) Kassen, niece Jordana (Perry) Jacobson and their children Ryan and Layla, nephew Brooke (Aly) Kassen and their children Jacob and Julia, and her sister-in-law Pat (Malcolm) Sobie, nephew Brian (Inez) Sobie and his son Sloane, niece Cynthia Sobie-Ellis and her daughter Ash, and niece Sherryll Sobie-Cooke and her sons Callum and Quinn. She was predeceased by her husband Harold, parents Max and Lily Swartz and sister Libbie Good.

Bette-Ellen was born in Melville, SK on December 3, 1941. She and Harold met in Saskatoon and were married in 1961. She was a loyal and faithful member of the Jewish Community and sisterhood supporting and participating in all the events, projects and gatherings. She was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting and needlepoint. All will remember her quick wit and sense of humour. As her children were growing up she became the neighbourhood 'mom' to all their friends. Family was the centre of her life and she had a heart of gold. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her family and her many friends.

The Funeral Service will take place on Sunday, May 1, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Saskatoon Funeral Home with interment at Woodlawn Cemetery followed by the Meal of Condolence at the Edwards Family Centre.
