Margaret Yalte passed away on July 10, 2022 at City Hospital in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Margaret was born March 16, 1937 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the only child of Floyd & Hannah (Balfour) Preston. Margaret grew up on the family farm near Baldur, Manitoba where she attended Excelsior School and Baldur High School. She attended the University of Manitoba and then took a business course in Winnipeg. Margaret was employed by the Federal Government in Winnipeg, Regina and finally in Saskatoon. It was in Saskatoon and while working for the Veteran’s Land Administration (VLA) that she met Nels Yalte. They were married in July 30, 1966 and resided in Montgomery Place in Saskatoon for the remainder of their lives. Margaret enjoyed gardening, photography, regular visits to her brother-in-laws’ farm near Court, Saskatchewan, and travelling to many interesting places in the world. Her most memorable trip was to the Orkney Islands in Scotland. Margaret was very proud of her family heritage, being a descendent of the Balfour family of the Orkney Islands.

Margaret is survived by several cousins, many nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her husband Nels Yalte and her parents Floyd and Hannah Preston, a nephew and several brothers and sisters-in-law.
