It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of our wife, mother, grandmother & great-grandmother.

Eileen Esther Friesen (Wagner) was born in Saskatoon on February 27, 1944, to George and Esther Wagner. The second of six children, she grew up with her siblings on the family farm west of Hague, where she had a wonderful childhood.

She attended school in Passchendaele, Hepburn and Hague, where she met her high school sweetheart, Arthur Friesen. Upon graduation she attended Saskatoon Business College.

She married Arthur on July 6, 1963. They were blessed with three children, Bonnie, Cary and Brent. After marrying Arthur, many hours were spent at hockey rinks and ball diamonds while he was playing and coaching, and then later watching her children and grandchildren.

In 1975 they purchased the lumber yard in Hague and spent 7 ½ years living there. Eileen loved living on the acreage, where she had a large garden and enjoyed the various animals we had.

Eileen was a woman of faith, and she always put her trust in God. Throughout the years, they attended Zion Lutheran Church in both Hague and Saskatoon. She taught Sunday School for many years and served on several church committees.

In 1983 they moved back to Saskatoon and Eileen began work at Porteous Lodge, a job she really enjoyed. Over the years, many family trips were taken to the states and western Canada. Her favourite trip was the one we took to Disneyland with all of the children and grandchildren.

She loved all the sports teams the family was involved in. She and Arthur spent a lot of time attending their grandchildren’s activities including hockey, basketball, and karate, which she enjoyed very, very much!

Upon retirement they spent many winters in Arizona, Palm Springs and Florida, as well as some trips to warmer climates. Travelling and watching her grandchildren’s activities brought her great joy!

Mom was an avid sports fan. She loved watching the Toronto Blue Jays and the Riders. She was the most positive fan ever; she always believed her teams could win, even if they were down by several runs or touchdowns!

Family Sunday dinners were another highlight for Eileen. She loved having everyone over. She is famous for her amazing turkey dinners (especially the stuffing) and the awesome Smartie blizzards she would make for her grandchildren!

She is lovingly remembered and will be greatly missed by her husband Arthur Friesen; children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren: Bonnie (Bruce), Cody (Meagan), Crew, and Brett Pongracz; Cary Friesen; Brent (Angela) Friesen, Raquel (Jeff), Payten, Charli, Madden, Cooper and Carter Caffet and Tayler Friesen.

She was predeceased by her parents George and Esther Wagner, in-laws Abram and Mathilda Friesen, brothers-in-laws Ed Janzen and Dick Serack, nephew Lyle Janzen and niece Kylee Wagner.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Canadian Lutheran World Relief (CLWR).
