Obituary of Elizabeth Mullins

MULLINS, ELIZABETH ANNE September 9, 1935 – January 26, 2016 Elizabeth Anne Mullins passed away peacefully on January 26, 2016 at the age of 80. Born on September 9, 1935 in Carman, Manitoba, Elizabeth was one of five sisters and three brothers. Throughout her life, Liz loved competitive sports, whether that be playing team sports during school or golfing and curling in her adult years. Even after she quit playing sports, she continued watching sports on TV, in particular curling and the Olympics. Always a very social person, Liz loved getting together with friends, whether that be hosting a dinner party or having neighbours over for “happy hour”. Her absolute favourite pastime combined her competitive drive with her social side as she was basically addicted to bridge – playing casually with friends, teaching lessons to others or playing duplicate bridge on a competitive level. For many years, she played bridge multiple times per week. Her other hobbies included stained glass, making concrete stepping stones and of course, completing the daily crossword puzzle. In her later years, Liz got more involved with helping others through her time spent making quilts at Cloth For Kids or making soup for neighbours at the condo. While she enjoyed traveling throughout her life, Liz’s favourite destination above all was the cabin at Guise Beach, Emma Lake. She and her husband Don shared many great years there, always going up just around the time the ice was starting to come off the lake and not leaving until it got cold in the fall. That cabin was a very special place and one that the entire family will always remember.Liz is survived by her son Glenn (Donna) Menuz and their children Ashton and Travis of Calgary as well as her two grandsons David (Karmen) and Christopher (Rebecca) and two great grandchildren Margaret and Benjamin, all of Edmonton.Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband Don Mullins, her son Gregory Seath and her sister Grace McClean. A huge thank you goes out to the nurses and staff at Parkridge Centre – Eastridge One for their kind care over the last two years.
