Volda Gwendoline Brown

1922 - 2022

 

Volda Gwendoline Brown passed away on December 26, 2022 at the Care Home of Dorothy and Richard Gerbrandt in Saskatoon, SK.  Volda was born in rural Harris, SK., to Albert and Lizzie Robinson on December 24, 1922, and passed away 2 days after her 100th birthday. 

She was predeceased by: her husband, Bert (December 29, 1996); her son-in-law Norman Becker; siblings and their spouses, Leila (Raymond Busby), Erskine (Lil), Frances (Howard Busby) and Wesley (Lorna); 3 nephews, Keith Busby, Garnet Robinson and John Busby; and Alvin’s partner Suzy Miller; in-laws, Billy and Maud ,Thomas and Boyd Brown. 

Volda is survived by: her daughters, Connie Lachapelle and Linda Becker; grandchildren, Trent (Jackie), Scott (Liana), Michael (Wendy) and Michelle (Dave); great grandchildren, Jayde, Tristen, Brady, Carter, Cooper, Kyla, Brendl, Winsor, Mavrik and Charlie; warmly remembered by Madison and Hayden and loved by many members of her extended family. 

Volda received her education at Heathland School.  Her dad died in 1934 and she worked hard on the farm with her siblings.  She worked for some of the neighbours who had small children.  Volda married Bert Brown on November 12, 1946 and they lived on the Brown farm until 1987 when they retired to Saskatoon. 

Volda was kind and caring and one of the most loving people you could ever meet.  She was known for her welcoming way and always offered a listening ear to many.  She loved baking all kinds of treats for everyone.  She was truly particular about her appearance, her cooking and cleaning and anything else she did.  Loved by friends of any age.  She just had a way.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at the Harris Community Centre at 2:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Volda’s memory to the Harris Cemetery (P.O. Box 124, Harris, SK., S0L 1K0).
