Obituary of Patricia Marguerite Trask

TRASK, Patricia
Marguerite (Pat)
Jul 15, 1931 - Dec 20, 2022

It is with great sadness we share with you the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother & friend.

Pat was born July 15, 1931 and lived a very "Depression-like" existence on the farm at Tessier, Sask. She shared this memory in her book "The Man Behind Handsome" which she wrote at the age of 81 and published hundreds of copies.
She married Neil Orin Trask on November 25th of 1950 and they raised 6 children on the farm at Harris. Mom was always the backbone of our family, farming with dad, maintaining a large garden and extensive flower beds all while heavily involved in the causes she felt were important and true to her heart.

Mom taught many classes through the Prairie West Community College. She was a judge for Communities in Bloom for many years and thoroughly loved traveling the province enjoying her love for flowers others also appreciated. She was also the recipient of many awards for her beautiful yard she created at the family farm. Mom was heavily involved in the Saskatchewan Archaeological Society, NFU and the NDP, including her candidacy in the 1986 Provincial Election. The Annual Premiers BBQ hosted at the farm was attended by over 300 people every year.

In 1982 Pat dug into her repertoire of cooking skills and started Pat's Family Catering to help pay the bills on the farm. Over 20 years her reputation grew and her success led to her feeding thousands of people each year.
Dad passed in January of 2002, and while mom stayed on the farm for a couple of years, she ultimately ended up residing in Harris, where she enjoyed the company of many friends. In 2016, Mom moved to Forget Towers in Saskatoon. Her loving personality and magnetic social skills led to her making many friends and creating a structure of friendship she cherished very much. Pat is survived by her children Dwein (Brenda), Wendy (Paul), Kerry (Norma), Hal (Arlene), Jan and Lisa (Bob), sister Mildred, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren who loved her dearly. She is predeceased by her parents, Ken & Ivy Faris, and sisters Helen, Eileen, Dickie and Beatrice.

Donations to the Harris Cemetery Fund, Box 124, Harris, SK. S0L 1K0 would be graciously appreciated in lieu of flowers.

A Celebration of Pat’s Life will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at W.A. Edwards Family Centre (333 4th Avenue North). Parking is available across the street at Saskatoon Funeral Home.
