Betty-Ann McGregor
1952-2023

McGregor, Betty-Ann Elva (70 years) – Betts passed away peacefully February 18, 2023 at 8:10pm in ICU at St. Paul’s Hospital Saskatoon. Family, friends, and wonderful medical professionals were with her holding her hands.

Betty-Ann was born at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon July 29, 1952 and lived in Saskatoon all of her life.  She attended John Lake Elementary School and then Aden Bowman Collegiate, where she made lifelong friends. After high school she attended Saskatoon Business College where she acquired many skills and was interested in bookkeeping.  This is where she learned to pay close attention to details which she did through out her life. She was always meticulous with whatever she did. She worked for Ken Priest at Imperial Optical for several years. Betty then worked many years, in the bank at the Saskatoon Casino when it was on Lorne Ave. She was very meticulous and took pride in the work she did.
Betty also worked doing the books for Brad & Carey (deceased) Cross at the Esso across from Market-Mall. They became good friends. She worked at Superstore and London Drugs in similar capacity again acquiring many friendships.

In May 2006, she had major back surgery due to spinal stenosis and several back fusion surgeries followed over the years.  This led to many years of suffering and difficulties. Eventually she had to live her life in her wheelchair and learned to adapt to her journey. Although this was difficult, she still lived independently on her own in her condo at Churchill Gardens, with the help of homecare and her many good friends.

Betty- Ann loved her beagle Woody, who gave her many years of companionship.  She had several dogs before that.  She loved her flower gardens in the summer.  She had many collections – stamps, coins, marbles, crystal, and Pen Delfin Rabbits which were always proudly on display in her home.  She loved to cook and had a large collection of cookbooks and every spice you could think of to cook with.  Betty-Ann was dedicated to her Mother Elva who she looked after in her Elder years. Their ashes will be interred together at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Betty - Ann is survived by brothers Marty Nicholas (Sharon), Howard McGregor (Mary) Nephew and Nieces, Sandy Nicholas, Shelly Nicholas and Ryan McGregor (Dawson Creek, BC).  She is also survived by longtime friends that she cherished and who brought joy to her life, Vicki Coxford, Tony & Lorene Obrigewitch, Sandy & Stan Peters, Shirley Goodman (deceased) Gilda Sellers (Vancouver), Dawn & Tim Tillson and Shelly Smith.  Thank you all for your Care, Dedication and Friendship over the years.  Please forgive any omissions as I know she had many good friends. Betty-Ann loved and appreciated all of you.  She was always straight forward and true blue. Betty-Ann was predeceased by her father Ralph George McGregor (1957), her mother Elva Jeanie McGregor (1988). He nephew Myles McGregor (1985), her niece Sherri McInnis (2010), her niece Stephanie Nicholas (2016).

Thank you to all the professional Dr’s Nurses and all staff who cared for Betty-Ann throughout her Journey.  We would particularly like to thank the End-of-Life Care Team for the amazing care in ICU at St. Paul’s Hospital. We will all miss her deeply.  Betty-Ann had much suffering and struggle with  her health over the years.  She is now truly at peace and will be remembered for her courageous battles. Betty-Ann, as per her wishes, did not want a funeral. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery with a Graveside Service in the Spring.
