Valerie Joyce Wiemken
December 16, 1942 - March 21, 2023

Valerie passed away unexpectedly after a short stay at Royal University Hospital. She leaves behind her daughter, Susanna and son in law Kirby, as well as her 5 granddaughters Claire, Naomi, Faith, Emma and Abbie.

Most of her working years she worked as a Registered Nurse in medicine within Canada and the US. Anybody who knew her knows how she loved cats and horses. She fostered many cats and kittens as well as fed feral cats. She always made sure she had dry cat food in her car, just in case she found a cat in need. At the time of her passing she had 5 cats of her own and also a foster kitten. It brought her great joy to sit in her chair, read the paper and have cat on her lap. Even better there would be classical music in the background.

Valerie was a quiet person with a large heart. She was a perfect example of how you can be gentle and kind yet strong at the same time. Her beliefs were firmly held.

She was generous with her gifts of delicious baking. Anyone who had her pies and cheesecake can attest to that. On their birthdays each granddaughter would know they could expect their very favourite.

The Funeral Service will be at 1:30 pm, Monday, March 27, 2023 at Saskatoon Funeral Home.
