My heartfelt condolences to the family of cousin Walter. I remember the trips Walter would make to Michigan. The first one was after I had finished my military service in 1966. Walter, my sister, a neighbor and I set off to tour Michigan. I remember vividly our paddling a canoe down the Au Sable River in northern Michigan. It was a challenge - Walter was in the front of the canoe and I was in the back. We were lucky we didn't go for a swim! Walter returned to Michigan a few years ago and he stayed with my wife and I where we then lived near the campus of Grand Valley State University in Allendale. I remember giving Walter the grand tour of the campus. It was a wonderful experience having him visit. I was always amazed at Walter's eagerness to pursue a dream. One such dream was a successful trip to Eastern European countries. He shared many pictures that he had collected over the years. I treasure the letters he would send occasionally. To all my relatives in Canada please know that the memory of Walter is something that fills my heart with joy. My best wishes to all. I am sorry that I could not join in the memorial service.
