Our sincerest condolences to Glen and family.
I had the great privilege of working with Jan at Saskpolytech. I will miss her enthusiasm, wit and knowledge of this profession. She will be missed!
We celebrated her retirement recently and you can clearly see her humorous side in the photos.

As you know Jan was an amazing fun woman who lit up every room she entered. I got to know her several years ago when I worked with her on the skin and wound project for SHR. She had such a passion for helping people and for zero pressure ulcers ! Over the years I would run into her on the wards and she would say - Janice and smile this HUGE smile - what have you been up to? We would easily chat and share a story or two. You could see her passion for teaching students and for great patient care in these short visits. I then had the pleasure to work alongside her at Sask Poly and we would swap knowledge and share stories some more. Jan was one of a kind and the world was a brighter place with her in it. She was a fierce advocate for best practices and being the best human you could be as a RN. I miss her and am so sorry for your family’s loss. Sending love and compassion as you grieve an incredible woman.

I was so blessed to have worked for your family cleaning house and spending with Jan.
She was the rock during my son's hospital stays always providing reassurance and knowledge andduring my unexpected hospital experience had to come up to visit me and "make sure the Dr did things right.!
Her love for all of you shone through endlessly with her interactions. She also had a humorous
side with her being petrified of mice I heard a scream downstairs one day "Connie get down here NOW! There was a mouse in the trap in the storage room and she said "Double bag it tie it twice then put it in the garbage bin in the garage"She followed me upstairs and asked after the garage door closed "Are you sure you pushed the lid down real tight .?
Then there was the time she decided to demolish the basement fireplace because she wanted to "change things up" There she was with safety goggles, coveralls and a hammer drill which she rented at Home depot, covered in dust and pieces of rock all over the carpet!
I said "What on earth are you going to tell Glen?to which she replied "Well nothing now I'm almost half done "
I know she is at peace in Heaven with her beloved "Poppy" and Nana
Prayers and Love

Our whole family joins with you in grieving the loss of a very special person. To have known her was to have loved her. Jan was always quick to see and attend to the needs of others—no wonder she was such an exceptional wife, mother, grandmother and nurse. We can only imagine the depth of your loss, but know that all who knew Jan are holding her family in their hearts with profound sympathy and deepest condolences.

RIP, Jan. It’s sad to hear about her sudden demise. Jan was one of the most supportive instructors I’ve had, usually giving positive feedback to motivate me. She was a very knowledgeable instructor and always willing to teach one to succeed. Jan had a great plan for her retirement. My condolences to her dear family.

It was truly a pleasure working with Jan. In the last few years I would cross paths with her in HomeSence as we looked for treasures for our homes and cabins.
I am so deeply sorry for your deep loss. Please know I along with others are also mourning for her as our dear friend and coworker. Sincerely, Judy Hill

My condolences. I am shocked and saddened to hear this news. Jan was my clinical instructor in 3rd year and we worked together at the vaccine clinics. Jan was funny, thoughtful and caring and will be missed. She was one of a few instructors that cared about the students and wanted them to be successful. One day I asked her to reteach our group ECG’s and IV pumps because the lesson in class was lacking. She stayed late to teach us and made it fun and easy to understand. She was the only one willing to take the time to help us succeed and I will always be grateful for that.

I worked with Jan in RUH ER and taught with her at SaskPoly. She was the most fun to work with- hands down. She was also incredibly bright and kind, and of course, a great nurse and instructor.
I’m so very sorry for your loss.
Love you Jan ❤️

I am Jan’s cousin and I am so very shocked and sorry to hear of Jan’s passing! My sincere condolences go out to her family! The spark she had for life was contagious; the unending energy she had for her nursing profession and her family seemed limitless and her love of her grandchildren, children and her mom was palpable! She had a phrase she always used when she was younger and I’m sure she used it throughout her life which was “I’m back!” She would say with her cute little smile and a pixie look on her face! She was such a little “spit fire” and such a genuine gem to all the knew her!
May your many stories and all your memories of this beautiful woman help you heal as you mourn this fantastic wife, mom, Grama, daughter, sister, auntie and friend!
Love from Donna Dalziel

I had the incredible gift of being one of Jan’s students, her passion for nursing, unwavering encouragement and excitement alongside me when I got my first IV still makes me smile. She supported me as I transitioned to my first teaching role and was always available for advice and a laugh. I am so grateful I happened to cross her path. Her impact on my practice and the profession of nursing is remarkable. My heartfelt condolences to her family for your incredible loss.

I had the pleasure to work alongside of Jan many times when she had her students on the ward. Her students loved and respected her. And the staff always knew that her students would have a high level of skill. She was such a bright and lovely person. I'm on mat leave currently and was so sad to hear of her passing. I'm so glad she was able to see pictures of my babies before I got to show her myself. I'm so sorry for your loss. Jan will be missed, the nursing profession lost a good one.
