Nancy Harman

Obituary of Nancy Rose Harman

Nancy Rose Harman was born on a frigid night in Maidstone, January 7, 1942. Her mother had to be taken to the hospital by horse and sleigh. She had fond memories of growing up on the farm with her parents Ed and Hazel Hanson, and riding horse-back to school with her sister. Nancy enjoyed Softball and especially figure skating. At 18 she moved to Saskatoon. Eventually she met the love of her life Barry, and enjoyed a wonderful marriage of 53 years. Their union produced three sons, Kevin, Michael, and Bryn. Nancy went to work as a ward clerk at RUH while helping her husband complete university. After that he helped Nancy complete her studies in pharmacy. Nancy practiced pharmacy for 35 years in Saskatoon. She held management positions for the firm of Pinders Drugs. Nancy's dream came true when she opened, operated and managed her own Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy on 5th Avenue. There her customers became her friends. Except for her family the Medicine Shoppe was the love of her life. Reluctantly she retired at 65 having sold the Shoppe to one of her best friends. Upon retirement Nancy and Barry travelled and enjoyed their sons, daughters in law and grandchildren. Nancy's greatest joy was helping her family, friends and customers. Nancy passed away peacefully on July 17, 2016 at St. Paul's Hospital. She will be missed by all who knew her. The family would like to give a heart-felt thank- you to the caring staff at St. Paul's Hospital. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the S.P.C.A.
