Obituary of Ronald August Lafreniere

Ronald August Lafreniere 1930 -2016 Ron’s family are saddened to announce his passing on December 29, 2016 at Samaritan Place. Ron is survived by his loving wife Ida; his children: Kerry (Janet Vindig), Gregory Lee (Marion), Jacqueline (Gord) Harris, and Lisa Lafreniere; his grandchildren Robert and Emily Lafreniere; Nathan (Katherine) Regnier; Rachel and Nicholas Harris; and his great grandchildren Alexis and Tyson Regnier. He is also survived by his brother Guy and numerous nieces and nephews Ron is predeceased by his parents Ovide and Marie Louise Lafreniere; his three sisters Beatrice, Lillian and Patricia. Ron was born and raised Swan lake, Manitoba. At the age of 17 he left home and worked throughout Western Canada, ending up in Toronto where he completed his high school education. In 1954 he joined the Saskatoon Police Services. Ron met the love of his life, Ida in 1957 and they were married in 1959. Ron served the City of Saskatoon for 35 years with the Police Services retiring with the rank of Staff Sargent. Ron and Ida spent many summer and most of their retirement at Little Bear Lake. They were avid fishermen and spent many the hour out on the lake. Ron loved hunting and trapshooting. In his later years Ron enjoyed going to Market Mall to visit with his friends. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of ones choice and will appreciated in lieu of flowers.

Funeral

A Vigil of Prayer will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday. January 2, 2017. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2017. Both will be at St. Philip Neri Roman Catholic Parish. 1902 Munro Ave.) Rite Committal will take place in Woodlawn Catholic Cemetery
