Obituary of Roxanne Wayland

Roxanne Emma Wayland July 16th, 1954 - August 31st, 2015 Roxanne Wayland passed away peacefully on August 31st, 2015. Her family and friends will miss her dearly but take great comfort in knowing that she lived all of her days to the fullest, and in the belief that her beautiful spirit will live on. Roxanne is predeceased by her parents, Patrick and Jacqueline Ryan of Edmonton. Left to mourn her loss and to honour her life are her husband, Mark; children, Layla Pretzlaff (Rick), Zoe Sloan (Derek) of Edmonton, and Patrick Brodie Wayland of Saskatoon; brothers, Tim Ryan (Anne) of Kaslo, BC and Mike Ryan (Shauna) of Edmonton; grandchildren Kohl, Kira and Kristian Pretzlaff and Riley, Zachary and Nolan Sloan, as well as cousins, a niece and numerous close friends. Roxanne was born in Edmonton, where she resided until her mid-thirties, before moving to Ottawa and then finally to Saskatoon in the early 1990's. She was a great seeker of knowledge about our place in the universe and was passionate about health and wellness. She pursued this passion holistically, eventually becoming a reflexologist, a profession to which she brought not only her indomitable spirit, but also a deep sense of caring about the well-being of others. A strong believer in the power of the human spirit for making the world a better place, Roxanne was happiest when helping others and when connecting with kindred spirits on life's journeys. She had been looking forward to retiring in Kaslo, BC where she had enjoyed spending her summers in recent years. She will miss the mountain air, the wonderful new friendships she had formed, and the new adventures she looked forward to experiencing there. Roxanne and her family would like to thank the staff at St Paul's Hospital Palliative Care Unit for their dedicated and compassionate care during the final months of her illness. A celebration of Roxanne's life will be held at Saskatoon Funeral Home (338 4th Ave N) on Wednesday, September 9th at 1:30pm. An online book of condolences may be signed at www.saskatoonfuneralhome.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to Saskatoon Funeral Home (306) 244-5577.
