Obituary of Werner G. Hasner

Werner G. Hasner It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Werner Hasner. He passed away peacefully at Sherbrooke Community Centre on Tuesday, December 5. Werner was born in Zeitz, Germany on April 2, 1931 and immigrated to Canada in December, 1951. He worked on a farm near Bruno for the first winter and moved to Saskatoon the following Spring where he made his permanent home. He was employed by Lambert Electric. Werner was a quite, gentle soul with many talents. He was an active member of the German-Canadian Club Concordia, played the tuba in the Concordia Brass Band, member of the Jaegerverein hunting club and the Concordia Choir. Werner is survived by his loving wife, Margot, his children Bob (Rose) and Edith (Mark), step-children, Christiane, Angelica, Roland (Mary) and Andrea, his grandchildren Pilar, Adrian, Garrett, Holly (Jason), Lisa, Shannon, Kaeleigh (Jeff), Monica, Roman, Landon, Nicole, great-grandchildren, Cohen, Olivia and Callan, his brother, Jurgen of Germany and numerous nieces and nephews of Germany. Werner was predeceased by his first wife, Anna, daughter Rosemarie Urteagas and son in law Nelson Urteagas, his parents, Otto and Frieda Hasner and brother, Rudy. A big thank you to the staff of Sherbrooke Community Centre for their wonderful, caring and compassionate care for Werner during his stay.

Funeral

The Liturgy of the Word will be celebrated on Monday, December 11th at 11:00 a.m. from Saskatoon Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Woodlawn cemetery, followed by lunch at the German Cultural Centre (160 Cartwright St).
