Obituary of Emma Elmer

Emma (Demke) Elmer July 31, 1923 - February 3, 2018 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Emma Elmer (nee Demke) on February 3, 2018. Emma was born in Poland to ethnic German parents, but often said how grateful she was to live in Canada. She was predeceased by her husband Walter Elmer, as well as her parents Lydia and Adolph Demke, brother Josef (Annelise), Gustaf (Hilda), Edward, son-in-law Jennings Michael Burch, sister-in-law Margaret Demke, and niece Susan Beliveau. Surviving Emma are her daughters: Elizabeth, RoseMarie, Margaret (Clay) Bergen and Suzanna Burch. She is also survived by her brothers John and Bruno Demke, and grandson Jeremy Burch, including several nieces and nephews. She was an excellent cook, but her greatest joy was tending her large vegetable garden and beautiful flowers. It was sad when she could no longer enjoy doing those things which she had so loved. Emma had great sympathy for those less fortunate among us especially children and animals. She had an abiding faith in God and his promises. We love and miss her but know we will be reunited as God calls us home one by one. In Emma’s honor, please make a donation to World Vision, the Arthritis Society, or the SPCA.
