Obituary of James Peter Olzewski

We sadly announce the sudden passing of James Peter Olzewski on March 3rd, 2024 at the age of 71 in Langham, SK.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Joyce Olzewski; his daughter, Teresa (Derek) Wasylenchuk and their children, Erik and Emma; his son, Scott (Jill) Olzewski and their daughter, Tessa. He is also survived by his mother, Frances Olzewski; sister, Linda Olzewski (Neil); brothers, Glen Olzewski (Crystal) and Frank Olzewski; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Jim was predeceased by his father, Peter Olzewski; his grandparents; and his father and mother-in-law.

Jim was born and raised on a farm in the Eagle Creek area near Langham. He took his first years of schooling at Eagle Point School and continued in Langham at Walter W Brown School. His first job was at Charlebois Sheet Metal in Saskatoon. Jim started his trucking career at CO-OP fuel, Burns and Porter Trucking where he was dispatcher and promoted to Terminal Manager. He continued his trucking career as the owner of Cross Country Trucking Limited for over 30 years. He eventually sold his company and continued to work for several trucking companies, the most recent Kentrax Trucking.

At the age of 40 years old he obtained his small aircraft pilots license, he loved to fly! He also enjoyed quadding, snowmobiling and camping, but his passion was fishing. Fishing with his father, son and yearly trips with the “Crew”. Jim also enjoyed his camping, quadding and fishing trips with his children and grandchildren. 

Jim lived in the town of Langham for 23 years and later moved to an acreage outside of Langham until his passing.

A Celebration of Jim’s Life will be held on Saturday, April 6th, 2024 at the Borden Community Hall in Borden, SK. at 1:00 PM. Friends and Family are invited to share stories and celebrate Jimmy O’s life.
