With extreme sadness and broken hearts, we announce the passing of Donna Noonan on March 15, 2024  at the Hospice at Glengarda.  Donna was predeceased by her best friend and husband of 43 years, Brian Noonan and by her parents Olive and Albert Fisher.  She is survived by her brother Terry Fisher (Dianne), her sister-in-law Gail Medernach (Emmet), brother-in-law Dennis Noonan (Barb, decd.), her brother-in-law Warren Noonan (Jane) and her nephews and nieces Warren Fisher, Brad Fisher, Ian Mokuruk, Darren Mokuruk, Ken Noonan, Krista Noonan, Denine Schellenberger and Cyril Reschny.  She will be greatly missed by her extended family and many friends.

Donna was born in Prince Albert and completed her elementary and high school education in Prince Albert.  Donna and Brian were married in 1974 and together they shared a lifetime of wonderful memories.  She obtained her Bachelor of Education degree and Post Graduate Diploma at the University of Saskatchewan and a Master of Education degree at the University of Ottawa.  She spent her entire career, from 1969 to 2001, as a teacher and administrator with the Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools at Bishop Klein, Bishop Murray, St. Mary, St. Mark, St. Michael, and Sion schools.

Donna’s leadership, intelligence and compassion were evident in her passion to help students achieve success and she would do anything to help them.  Donna had several caring, dependable, loving, and supportive friends; she treasured their friendship and embraced every moment with them.

Family was always of paramount importance to Donna.  She was a dedicated companion and devout caregiver offering a spirit of care and selflessness to her mother and aunts.  She was also a wonderful aunt who brought unconditional love and joy to her numerous nieces and nephews and proudly followed their accomplishments and those of her grandnieces and grandnephews. She often visited her brother and his family in Ottawa.  She was a very close and much valued member of the Noonan family.

Donna enjoyed a number of hobbies.  She was a talented glasswork artist, quilter and knitter.  In her typical sharing manner she gifted family and friends with her creations.  Donna was a very social person who enjoyed entertaining and willingly hosted many gatherings for family and friends.  She loved to cook and bake as well as wine and dine.  Donna’s caring nature for animals was clearly evident in her love for cats - of whom she had several over the years.  She would do anything for her cats!

A special thank you is offered to those in the health care profession for their commitment, compassion and excellent care provided for Donna while in hospice.  Should you wish to commemorate Donna’s life, in lieu of flowers you are invited to please consider a memorial donation to Hospice at Glengarda in  care of St Paul's Hospital Foundation Inc. or the Donna Noonan Guardian Angel Fund (please contact: Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools Foundation).
